Year 5/6 Showcase Their Artistic Talent with Stunning Split-Face Portraits
Creativity was on full display in Year 5/6 as pupils took part in an exciting art lesson focused on portraiture, shading and tone. The children were challenged to create impressive split-face portraits of famous people, carefully using different shading techniques to add depth, detail and realism to their work. They demonstrated excellent artistic skills, showing a strong understanding of how light and shadow can bring a portrait to life.
Future Play Leaders Ready to Make a Difference
A group of Year 5/6 pupils enjoyed a fantastic opportunity on Monday when they attended a Play Leaders course at Seaton Carew Cricket Club. Throughout the day, the children took part in a variety of fun, non-traditional playground games, including skipping rope activities and target-based challenges. The course was designed to help pupils develop the skills needed to become confident and effective play leaders within school.
St Joseph's Pupils Take Part in Exciting NASA Artemis Mission Event
Pupils at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Hartlepool enjoyed an inspiring opportunity to learn from experts working on one of the world's most exciting space programmes during a live online event with NASA. Year 5/6 pupils joined a live Zoom session with spacecraft engineers to learn all about the Artemis mission, gaining a fascinating insight into the future of space exploration and the technology that will help take humans farther into space.

Carnival Creativity in Year 1/2
Our Year 1/2 children have been getting creative by designing and making their own carnival masks, inspired by the vibrant Mardi Gras festival—and what a fantastic job they have done! The classroom was full of colour, excitement and imagination as the children brought their designs to life. They thoroughly enjoyed the activity and took great pride in their creations.
Year 6 Celebration at Portofino’s
Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time celebrating the end of their SATs with a well-deserved trip to Portofino’s! It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to relax, enjoy some delicious food and spend quality time together after all of their hard work. The smiles said it all—everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Creativity Shines in After School Arts & Crafts Club
Last term, our Arts and Crafts After School Club at St Joseph’s was full of creativity, imagination and wonderful designs. The children enjoyed a wide range of activities, producing some truly amazing creations to take home and share with their families. These included beautifully designed bracelets, thoughtful kindness stones, personalised keyrings, and a variety of colourful Easter crafts.
Fun Fitness Club Success at St Joseph’s
Last term, our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils had a fantastic time at Fun Fitness After School Club, held each Tuesday at St Joseph’s. The sessions were packed with energy and excitement, with children taking part in a variety of activities including circuit training, team games and even a fitness treasure hunt. These fun and engaging activities helped pupils to build their fitness, coordination and teamwork skills while having lots of fun along the way.
A Lovely Start to Our Nest Group
We were delighted to welcome grown‑ups, babies and toddlers to the very first session of our new Nest mother and baby group at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School — and what a wonderful start it was! The session was filled with smiles, laughter and lots of fun, creating a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Families enjoyed spending time together in a warm, friendly space, with little ones happily playing and exploring, while parents had the opportunity to chat, connect and get to know one another.
A Musical Morning at the Library
Yesterday, pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a wonderful trip to the local library. The children were treated to a special performance of the book Spirit Dog, listening carefully as the story was brought to life. They also had great fun joining in with the accompanying songs, using a variety of musical instruments to enhance the performance.
A Very Special EYFS Visit from Pets for People!
Today, our EYFS children enjoyed a fantastic and memorable visit from Pets for People. The children were thrilled to meet and learn about a fascinating range of animals, including a friendly rabbit, a slow‑moving tortoise, a giant African land snail, and a hissing cockroach!
